Open Innovation was born as a technological ideas lab within empathy.co, built for rapid experimentation, technical exploration, and creative prototyping. Its visual identity needed to reflect that openness: a modular space, alive, with a raw aesthetic designed especially for a tech and developer audience.
In just two weeks, I conceptualized and executed the entire visual identity: logo, design system, digital components, motion, and a simple landing page. The whole system was built with an expansive logic: visual minimalism, references to code, and a subtle presence of RGB as both a conceptual and expressive foundation.
The logo is built using lowercase Neue Haas Grotesk, a clean and structured typeface. While it’s not monospaced, its cleanliness and readability align with the project’s technical language. In motion, the logo subtly transforms: gentle transitions, and a sense of ongoing movement, as if it’s always in beta.
For body text, I chose Sans Mono, a monospaced typeface that adds rhythm, structure, and a clear link to developer culture. In contrast with the titles, this pairing strengthens the balance between neutrality and technical personality that runs throughout the brand.
Color emerges from its digital root. Red, green, and blue are not just aesthetic choices, they’re the raw material of all on-screen color, the starting point from which anything can be built. That idea of unity and possibility resonates deeply with the project’s spirit.
This same logic of modular construction extends to the graphic system. Each tech lab area is expressed through code syntax fragments: [ ] for privacy, /* for explainability and /> for relevance. More than a visual gesture, it’s a statement of intent: each module speaks the native language of those who build with code: direct, functional, open. Every symbol was chosen for its meaning and its link to specific programming languages, reinforcing both visual and conceptual consistency.
As a layer of depth, a cloud of plexus a visual network inspired by data flows and neural connections, acts as a subtle backdrop across key assets: headers, LinkedIn posts, and the landing page. It adds texture without distraction, moving gently and organically, like a living system in constant evolution.
